Upper Redrock Lakes
Aug. 17, 1934
Today, went out around East end
of Upper Redrock Lakes over to Swan
Parked, which was practically dry
in company with Mr. Clarence E. Hunt
and Mr. Archie Hayden.
Mallard. 3 mallards were found
death and 3 alive. Mr. Hunt dissected
one dead mallard recently & found
considerable shot in the gizzard.
He feels that the mallards principally
& other ducks too are dying of lead
poisoning. B.D. Sear also says
mallards are dying, but he does
not know why.
Swans. Sear says there are 3
pairs of swans with cygnets on Lower
Redrock Lakes; one pair with 7,
and 2 pairs each with 5. Mr. Hunt says
he knows of 2 pairs of swans with
cygnets on Upper Redrock Lakes, one
pair with 5 and one with 7.
All people interviewed say that
Swan Parkers custodian Lakeview
Gun Club, shot 9 swans last
Fall & was not prosecuted because
he swore they were Chinese Geese.
Sear account of 17 swans having
been killed last fall.
