463 Tompson Hole River April 23, 1934. reportedly the most heavily utilized by elk. Mrs. Richmond said she had seen a band of approx. 75 just above her place recently. Bear tracks seen once. One cougar track followed along trail for over a mile. Otter, bobcats, minks, martens are all trapped, and Fisher are occasionally caught. Myrke saw a fisher tracks shortly below Mosquito Creek on Bogachiel River. Wolves are probably gone entirely. Coyotes & foxes are probably not in this part of the peninsula. Gruse heard 3 times during day. Bogachiel River April 24, 1934: Trip from Crispin's place to Guard Station, about 8 miles. Vegetation much the same as on the lower Hole. Elk browsing on Salmon berry & Vine maple becoming noticeable about last 1/2-3 miles of trail. Elk tracks common from about 2 miles above Crispins. Deer tracks fairly common though never numerous. Bear sign seen twice. Bobcat & cougar tracks once each. Wintergreen is still about only bird heard in forest. Occasional Varied Thrush & Crow Warsaw- 2 Am. Mergansers on river.
