Grand Canyon Nov. 5, 1938.
Out toward Coconino Basin, we
went through several miles of
low junipers, and then into open
range country, ideal for antelope.
The grass is abundant.
Practically, the only yellow-
pine belt of any consideration
on the South Rim is that in
the Timberline area. Perhaps, when
it is cut over, it might be
more available for public acquisition
and would provide wider protection
for animals and bird life on this
side. Cutting, as it is being done,
will not damage the area for
park purposes.
