Jump Up March 9, 1934.
The ride today covered the jump up peninsula.
I rode west from the cabin to Kanab Creek
and covered the area for perhaps 3 1/2 miles south. Deer were mainly scattered from about the middle of the peninsula to Jump up Canyon. Few were seen, & tracks were few, down on the points to Kanab Creek. The portion which I saw showed an improved range as compared to last year. Cownia shoots were from 4" to 6" long and in many cases appeared to be untouched. Ephedra was improved everywhere, & fairly plentiful.
Artemisia is in excellent condition.
Perhaps the reason for this range improvement is in the fact that deer are scattered over the winter range this year and are not concentrated as they were last year.
I saw 2 coyotes down near Kanab Creek. They were together. Coyote tracks were reported common by the other members of the party,
A Bald Eagle was reported seen.
