Tompson 428. Kane, North & South. Feb. 27, 1934 Ephedra viridis shows too heavy utilization by cattle probably on those same ridges. Sage brush shows hardly any browsing. Cofania and Junipers which were once stripped today over-browsing show remarkable recovery in an abundance of new shoots growing from the lopped over parts. I see little difference in the range this year, compared with last except for the normal growth of last year and a slight utilization generally. This east side range still appears to me as capable of supporting many more deer than it does at present, provided cattle are limited to the permits given. Last night I heard several coyotes howl out off the plain toward Mobile Canyon. Warren Hamilton saw one coyote north of Kane by a freshly killed buck.
