424. San Rafael Canyon to Ferron. Oct.30,1933. thana probable location. This site was perhaps 1 mile down stream left hand side below junction of Salt Wash. Excavation probably justifiable U.S. Biological Survey poison signs were recently posted in Hulle's valley and above. Poison for coyotes have been distributed for several years in the region. Swasey says there is considerable loss of sheep due to coyotes. The area covered today was everywhere marked by horse, cattle & sheep tracks. A few head of cattle were seen at the upper end of the gorge. The region is almost barren of visible fete animal life. Signs seen: coyote tracks - common porcupine ears - few bobcat tracks - one pack rat nests - few chipmunks - 2 unidentified Birds, very scarce; those seen: gnat catcher - one flock guncox - common chickadees - heard twice ravens - 9 redtail hawk - 1
