Thompson 86 Grand Canyon W Ranch trip Nov. 4, 1930 south of the juniper proposed area for many years, to stay prefer to stay in the open rather than the juniper country. Therefore, it would be almost useless to try to make antelope territory of the proposed extension. The antelope range would have to include much of the W Ranch, & there is no natural barrier to the south. We were told that the antelope range even further west than we want. Badger holes numerous in the open country. Coyote not very troublesome. We saw one. Sheep herder said they rarely bothered. Ground squirrels plentiful. Returning, we saw 5 Mule Deer (4 doe, & 1 spike buck a very light bruff color) drinking at Ponderosa Tanks about 2 miles south of the park. This was 4:30 P.M.
