Mammoth to Specimen Ridge October 11, 1933. After noon I drove to Gardiner and returned via the old road. 53 antelope were counted near Gardiner. 11 Bighorns were upon the top of the west slope of Mt. Evart. 38 more antelopes were counted out in the Trumpeter Lark region, making a total of 91 seen during the afternoon. Buffalo tracks numerous around Specimen, Mt. although I saw no buffalos. One coyote seen 3/4 mile west of Tower Falls ranger station. Chapmans were at the Beaver pond taking pictures. They had cut numerous sections of aspen trunks yesterday & throwing them into the pond. Today the geavers stayed in the pond all day eating the bark from these logs. Muskrats and several C. geese are in the pond also. It is worth noting here that every night at Mammoth several coyotes howl about the Parade Ground & on the hill. Last night they came down to the stables & howled. 4 or 5 are here at a time.
