405. Yellowstone Nat'l Parks From Mammoth to Tern Lake. October 6, 1933 Last night while making two trips for Dr. Budoff to Old Faithful no bears were seen. But several visited the garbage cans back of Hamilton's O.F. store. Two coyotes were seen during the night between O.F. and M.T. The Sandhill cranes were not seen in Lower Tever Basin. It is possible that they have left in migration. Elk and deer were seen constantly along roadside throughout the night. Observations were made in great haste because of hurried medical trip. This morning we left Mammoth about 8:30 A.M. Elk & deer numerous around Mammoth. Near Lake Junction no cranes seen where they were usually to be found. Geese still plentiful along the Yel. River. Mergansers, Mallards golden eyes, few Puddys still present in all along the river. At the lagoon on Mary's Bay at least a thousand ducks were present. They flew at our approach so that few identifications were
