Antelope Creek Buffalo Pasture
Aug, 23, 1933,
Party of inspection:
Baggley, McCarter, Ford, Wright & Thompson.
Plans have been drawn up for
the corral & survey made. The
main pasture is to include about
600 acres of meadow land on
the watershed of Antelope Creek.
Lodgepole pine & paper thickets
are included as well as the willow
thicket along the creek. This latter
is good moose country & has been
much browsed, but presumably
more so by elk than moose!
We have suggested that the long
narrow neck from field to show
corral be considerably widened
to prevent trampling of grass
& erosion. This will probably be
done. The pasture will contain
between 700 & 800 acres in all.
Grass is very abundant over
this area and it is above the
elk winter range. Considerable
sage brush exists in the
portion next the road. I think
however, that the paddock
should not be stocked with
more than 50 buffalos until
