Elk Range inspection today with Harry, Montana State Game Warden; Sanford, "Commissioner Mabson, Supervisor U.S.R.P., USNPS. Wright, Chief U.S.D., USNPS.. Tom Danner, Montana game deputy. As would be expected from this summer's drought in northern Wyoming, the elk winter range in Yellowstone, from the great Reservation Ranch to Tower Falls, is almost bare. The grass simply did not grow this summer. Everywhere the hills are bare & brown and every stone shows. The aspen & coniferous repro. was hit harder last winter than ever before. Little douglas firs, junipers & firs along the roadside, are chewed to rag. The aspens are stultified. The mature aspen groves are dying
