378. 5. Betula fontinalis (Mt. Biel,) common along Thompson River but not browsed. 6. Grossus everywhere abundant. 7. Physogonum umbellatum (Sulphur flower) abundant all over Moraine Park. 8. Alnus tenuifolia common along roadside. Does not show browsing. 9. Purshia tridentata, common on rocky slopes. Shows heavy browsing. 10. Ribes cereum (Scrub currant) very common under yel. pine on rocky hills throughout Moraine Park. Shows universal browsing but never heavy. About 1/2 way over cut-off from Mt.P. to highdrine. Aspen thickets. Every aspen barbed by elk, but not sufficient to endanger tree. Far more elk marking than when here two years ago. Young aspen repro. abundant, apparently where hidden by snow, but with tips browsed. Purshia tridentata taken most heavily. Artemisia
