Grand Canyon Ropes Hell Nov. 3, 1930. Interview with Ed Hamilton who has been here 40 years. Game is about the same here as in the past. There never was much, due to scarcity of water. Big Horn Sheep used to be more abundant in the canyon than now. They are pretty well gone. Bear have always been very scarce on the north rim due to lack of water. Turkeys were never there, so far as Hamilton knows. Elks were never there either, at least during Hamilton's knowledge. Deer are more abundant now than ever before. Antelope: Hamilton know nothing of "5000 antelope" referred to in letter. He used to own a ranch about 15 miles out of Anita, now the W Triangle Ranch.
