366. My Feb-Mar impressions are not changed for Covania. The other (less desirable) forage plants of course look better in leaf than when seen bare. However, I still cannot recommend an increase in deer - & perhaps for many years. In VT meadow this evening we counted 52 deer in the herd. They were too wild to approach, but appeared to be in good condition. Aspens are just beginning to leaf on top of the plateau although they are in full leaf lower down. We saw very few aspen sprouts. One goosable seen near Pine Flat. North Rim, Grand Canyon June 11, 1933. Trip: Headquarters to Cape Royal to Point Subline. Five deer seen between Checkin' station & headquarters. One coyote in fine pelage seen near Cape Royal. One Kayhalfquirrel at headquarters. Flock of 60-70 ravens feeding in VT meadow all day. Ferruginous Rough-leg Swanses, Healtail hawks seen in the park. The range from Headquarters
