Thompson 79 Grand Canyon Down in the Canyon other; all along the 20+ miles of canyon trail. G. M. H. found an old, com- plete skull of an immature coyot, at the head of Hermit Gorge about 5300 ft. elevat. The skull was in a crevice & no other bones could be found. Rock Rats Neotoma Desertorum, The Desert Wood Rat, had built innumerable nests amongst the rocks, down in the lower half of the canyon. No heaped houses were seen. Ground Squirrel. Citellus gramma, grammus were seen in abundances at Indian Gardens but nowhere else along the trail. Reptiles None were seen, except a few very small lizard in the rocks of lower Sonoran. They were
