H. found an old, com- plete skull of an immature coyot, at the head of Hermit Gorge about 5300 ft. elevat. The skull was in a crevice & no other bones could be found. Rock Rats Neotoma Desertorum, The Desert Wood Rat, had built innumerable nests amongst the rocks, down in the lower half of the canyon. No heaped houses were seen. Ground Squirrel.
