345. Zion Apr. 29, 1933 Supit. Patraw says that deer are increasing so rapidly that he is not worried about the number which are shot around Springdale & Rockville. Tracks were seen throughout the valley. Deer are tame enough that they are often seen aloft the houses & lawns. This is much more noticeable than when we were here in 1931. We saw deer today several times while driving up the valley. There appears to be a grazing or growing line on all the forest aspen in the river bed. Mr. Brookes suggests this is due to high water. I did not get to examine it because of the constant & heavy rain. Supit. Patraw says that does far exceed bucks - [illegible] perhaps 14 to 1. This needs investigation.
