1800 head of local cattle roam the
forest as a whole, and they are
not considered as a heavy factor
in range destruction, owing to
their numbers.
March 11-12 were spent enroute to
and in Kane.
March 13 was spent in moving the
horses from Ryan to Kane.
March 14, 1933. Ride in Kane region.
Kane is about as far north as the
East Side Winter Range extends. Deer
are not abundant there. Many
tracks were seen, & the consensus
of opinion was that we saw only
a small percentage of the deer
in the region. 178 deer seen for
the day. Cowana is scarce, but
none of the range shows utility
to amount to anything during
the last 9 years. Our enclosure
5 miles south of Kane showed
hardly any perceptible improvement
over the region outside the fence.
Jumper & Johnson dense. One Coyote
been.
