334. several coyotes howled near camp. They seem to be more numerous in this section than in those covered previous. The terrain covered today is more open over a large part than most of that we have covered, yet we found 326 deer in the juniper hollows. Some herds numbered 50. Singles are very rare. One single seen today had a broken leg. Whether they will not tolerate it or whether it is simply unable to keep up, we could not say. Jubander examined the stomach contents of one of the kills and reported (estimated) 87% Cownia 3% weeds unidentified 5% grass 2% juniper 1% piton 2% sage. Numerous ravens, flocks of Piton Jays, 2 Towhees, juncos, 2 Crested Jays, 1 jackal rabbit, were seen. Tomorrow we leave for Isawa Point to be in that region 2 days. Most of the west side range
