White Pelican
British Columbia
324.
Oct. 25, 1932.
Interview with Mr. J. T. McCabe:
Swan Lake, 20 miles west of Quesnel,
a few pairs of pelicans have always
been reported.
Pelican Lake beside Anahim S., always
a few breeding reported. None seen
there last of April 1932; lake still
frozen over.
Anahim Lake, first arrivals Apr. 22,
1932. Snow everywhere at this time.
But Bowser, resident at Anahim
for many years, says no young on
the lake for 11 yrs. June 10-14, 1932
1-26 on Anahim. Never had kids
on the lakes. Reports of scattered
pairs in 6 lakes in Anahim Lake
region.
Charlotte Lakes, apparently more fond,
in the Entawle Lake region
where McCabe is going next year,
there are reports of pelicans in
numbers, but [illegible] no definite
data. This sounds like ideal
pelican country; semi arid, small
timber, shallow lakes.
None along mountainous coast.
Powderson Lake, near Charlotte Lake
a resident summer population of over
20. None known breeding.
