Reference Minidoka Reservation, Idaho. 323. Sept. 10, 1932 On August 7, 1932, I had a conference with McGee, U.S. Game Protector for Idaho. He was at American Falls, Idaho, as I came through. The following notes were made on a scratch pad & are herewith incorporated. McGee estimates 1500 White Pelicans along Snake River from mouth of Weber River to American Falls. None known to nest anywhere in the state. At Minidoka, no pelicans have nested for years. There are Foresters & Black Terns there, Mallards, Green- and Blue-winged teal, and some pintails, and scaups, all nesting except the pelicans. Herons also nest there. McGee has killed about 2800 Black-crowned Night Herons & Great Blue Herons in the last 6 weeks. Pelicans collect on Lake Lowell each fall during migration - up to 200, but never many more (Canyon Co.) McGee knows of no Caspian in Idaho now although he is convinced they used to live there.
