Mammoth to Seebe
314.
Tompson
July 27, 1932
Today George Bagley & I drove to
Lake. We used Carbon disulphide
in a Pyrene gun on one bear & her
cubs. At first they showed no
effects but in about half a minute
they began running wildly through
the woods, pawing and shaking
their heads. Apparently it hurt
their eyes. In a few minutes
they showed no ill effects & went
about their foraging as though
nothing had happened.
Four bears have been killed
at Fishing Bridge. It is decided
to kill about 3-4 more.
Thumb, 1 killed, 3 to be killed
Q.F. 1 " , 3-5 more to be killed

The feeding of 100-200 lbs. of rolled
oats to the bears at Canyon is
to be discontinued in order to
see what affect such measure
has. Martindale's request for
oats to supplement garbage at
QF is to be denied.
