Old Faithful to Mammoth Tompson 313. July 28, 1932. Old black was dispatched this morning by George Hallger, Manager. A grizzly bear chased a fisherman up a tree two days ago. The firman tried to descend & was chased up twice more. Finally he escaped, ran to the road, and caught a ride into camp. A party of employees near Fishing Bridge were along the river a few nights ago having a picnic. Four grizzlies came close to them & growled, frightening them away. As La Mont & I drove through Hayden Valley about 4:30 P.M., we saw a herd of more than 200 elk about 1 mile west of the road in the vicinity of Albion Creek. 34 white pelicans were seen along the river. At Canyon, Maynard Barrow reported 9 blacks killed so far and the 1 grizzly. The camp raids have entirely ceased. 8 cubs are left orphans.
