July 21, 1932.
There were 29 cars in the camp last night. Of these, 11 parties suffered the foregoing property damage. Practically everyone in camp had kept watch most of the night. Most of the campers said they could not stand it any longer. Out of every party visited only 1 man said he had slept soundly without mishap, and 2 parties who had not suffered showed little concern. This gives a ratio of 26:3 in favor of [illegible] protection of the camp grounds.
In the housekeeping cabins, 1 tent had had canvas slightly torn by bear attempting to get in.
One party of women with new sport Studebaker roadster - very angry because bear crawled all over it and muddied it inside before they went to the dance.
Most complaints this morning have been centered on a large brown, 2 large black or the large brown with 2 little' black cubs.
9:30 AM, 2 adult blacks have just left the [illegible] camp, & strolled across the meadow to the incinerator. In the incinerator grove, I saw a black bear sleeping at 5:PM last night stretched out flat, as a colt sleeps.
