Canyon 300. July 20. Two 3 yr old brown bears were trapped & shot today. Tom Stewart, student in parasitology at Harvard autopsied them. One had no parasites visible in the intestine, stomach, heart nor lungs. The other one had several round worms in the mid intestine. They were Both bears were thin but had plenty of food in the intestines & stomach. No complaints came in today from bears. About 11:00 PM I drove through the camp ground & housekeeping cabin. One large brown bear with 2 small cubs (black) was prowling around the camp. It was too dark to follow her. Several people were using flashlights to look around their camps. July 21, 1932 This morning from 6:30 to 7:15 I cruised the camp. Every party had suffered minor property damage. 3 of them had hung their food on a rope between 2 trees, & the bears had broken the ropes in every case. 3 food boxes had been torn off hangers; one tent
