Thompson Canyon 297. July 19, 1932. duty all night - also disgruntled! One party of 3 were rouped from their sleep by a bear entering the tent & pulling things out from under their tables. They reputed a housekeeping cabin in order to get a nights sleep. One housekeeping cabin was entered by a bear with 2 cubs. She tore the canvas off one side & carried out food supplies "by the arm load", according to observers. The occupants were at the dance. One neighbor ran out in his pyjamas to chase the bear away but she charged him before he was within 30 ft. and chased him past several bungalows. People in the entire neighborhood of the incident were angry & disgruntled. They complained that some protection was needed, and that the public deserved it. By 8:00 AM, there were 6 adult bears & 1 cub cruising through the public camp & housekeeping cabins. One man said he had been up since three o'clock and that bears had been making the rounds on an average of every 10 minutes since that time. Each tent would be visited, the bear yelled at, and then to
