Thompson Canyon 295.
July 18, 1932
Feeling there was a repeated crackle
crackle in the forest. Finally some
tree (probably dead) crashed, and
most of the grizzlies scattered in
every direction. Many of them
returned slowly - some of them
did not come again.
It is decided to have a bearproof
fence put around the seats at
the Canyon grizzly show, and to
suspend the billed show.
A park visitor sitting beside me
this evening gave the following
statistics on the Penn game in
1931.
1200 bears killed in 13 days
205,000 deer " " " The ratio
of does to bucks was found to be 10-1
which is the reason for opening
the season on does all over the
state.
There were over 700,000 licensed
resident hunters @ $2.25 per license
54 hunters were killed during the
open season.
