Canyon 798. July 18, 1932 Garbage cans are necessary but he thinks that there are too many bears. Some should be disposed of. Part of Maynard Barrows, Ranger in charge, Canyon: 58 blacks & browns have been counted in the Canyon district in the last few days. The annoyances continued at the camp grounds housekeeping cabins. One brown with split ear has torn the boards off the side of one of the cabins offing breakfast twice. This bear was trapped & deported to West Yellowstone this morning. Barrows thinks about half the deports return. He thinks there are too many blacks but not too many grizzlies. I spent an hour in the public camp ground - from 2-3:00 PM. Every garbage can was tipped over & cleaned of edible food. A yardling black, doe, and an adult black were cruising the ground. Every camp & garbage can was visited for a few minutes time.
