No more pelicans returned to the island last night nor this morning than were there yesterday afternoon. A number of adults left the island yesterday evening I have not returning. This morning we counted about 60 adults on the island.
The gulls called & squawked most of the night. Rain or thunder seemed to disturb them & make them noisier.
The young pelicans gathered in pods for the night with the adults around them.
At dawn, a pair of Canada Geese with 4 small goslings flew over our island. 6 Mallards flew into the bay. Compton Crooke reports a flock of about 20 Blue Heringed Keal'
The birds on Mull Island are accustomed to us & are paying no attention to our camp on Pelican Island.
