"First Hualapai Canyon
279.
July 11, 1932.
George Bagley reported the bear situation very serious at canyon today. This morning there were 8 cars in the camp ground and 13 bears. He estimates at least 75 bears within a radius of 5 miles of Canyon. He thinks that at least 2 bears will have to be removed. Yesterday one man was throwing peanuts to a bear & he ran out. Immediately the bear charged him. He ran & was not injured.
The food supply is very scarce. There is practically no edible food from the camp collections. Bagley has suggested cooking a couple of barrels and feeding it with the garbage.
