Jackson Lake 273. July 7, 1932 I also found an adult beaver sleep- by the lake, and what appeared to be a trap for catching bass mink. It was a wooden box about 2' x 6" x 4" with wire door at one end & wooden slide door at other & a trip inside. Remains of a fish was still in the trap; it had apparently been lost. Old beaver dams stretch for perhaps 1000 feet across the swamp between the Swan lakes and the lower lake, as though there were a much larger lake a few years ago. Moran to Mammoth July 8, 1932 Plecat Creek was scouted in the swamp region above Flag. Swans were reported to be there but we found none. The swamp appears to be ideal for swans & cranes. A Great Blue Heron rookery containing at least 10 pairs of herons was sighted on the south side of the creek in the tops of tall dead pine trees. They made a terrific squawking every few minutes, but they stayed in the tree tops. Returning via Lake & Canyon we saw the same black bear at ab
