Mammoth to Snake Entrance 2701 HOMPSOIT July 6, 1932 last years cub, and one was a cub of this year following an adult. These bears were all on the road, & were typical "hold up" bears. He watched the mother & cub for about an hour. Every car which came by stopped to see the bears. Most tried [illegible] at least get pictures. 5 cars fed the bears. In each case of feeding the mother bear would stand on hind feet & put fore paws against the door. Between cars, both mother & cub would eat herbs. (These were picked for specimens to be reidentified). [illegible] while we were trying to get a picture of her, the mother bear repelled our lunch. In spite of my standing on the fender shooting & waving my arms, she came up to the car & stood on her hind legs offering in past me. I ran around to the other side of the car to grab the lunch (& to get the body out of her way) but she got the lunch first. He grabbed the shovel & chased her, yelling & running. Cub climbed the tree. Tourists laughed. Bear ran holding lunch in mouth. Finally she accidentally dropped part of it, then turned to retrieve it
