McGinnis to Redrocks 241. mpson June 11, 1932. See notes of G. M. H. for swan material. I counted 21 swans on lower Redrocks. Sugar, custodian of Middle-Wild Ducks Club is sure there are I at least 50 swans in the Redrocks region. En route to Redrocks we saw 2 swans on Henry's lakes, side next McGinnis. Black-headed Grosbeaks were seen near Sherwoods Museum. 10 pairs of Scaups were seen courting in a little pool on east Henry Lakes north side. Both males & females (but most pronounced in males) jerked the head forward & snapped at the bill. Pairs left a few at a time until none were left. A Long-billed Curlew was seen not for group the scaups. Ground-squirrels (Citellus elegans?) were very abundant, especially around Redrocks. Several Ferruginous Rough Legs were seen. One pair was repeatedly attacked by a pair of Redtails. The latter kept swooping on the former from above. One Ferruginous Rough-leg lit on a post and a magpie drove it off. One Redtail had a mouse by the tail and flew around with it several minutes. A magpie kept lingering, but did not
