Yellowstone June 7, 1932
He frightened an elk calf out of hiding and immediately & out of the coyotes chased it. The calf squealed as it ran and the coyote returned just in time to drive the coyote away according to Mr. Griswold.
The badger den, see p. 222, was again open and showed signs of recent use.
Trumpeter Lake June 10, 1932
Knight, Griswold, & I drove to Trumpeter Lake arriving there about 12:00 N. One swan was on the lake, the other was not there although we saw one swan an hour later on the big lake 1/2 mile east of Trumpeter.
Knight went out to the nest found 4 eggs covered & photographed them. One was placed in the water & nearly sank showing case that incubation is not very far advanced.
