Beaver Lakes next of Mammoth 3 miles. 226 1932, May 28, Yellowstone A party of 8 of us went fishing at the lake this afternoon but only 1 fish was caught. This was a rainbow trout. One other rainbow was caught during the afternoon by a man shot in our party. About 15 people were fishing all afternoon, but it was reported that fishing had been good in the early morning. The day was rainy & windy. George & I returned between 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, hiking across the hill to Cremator Gulch. The first pond east of the lake had 3 breams swimming in it. We watched them for about 1/2 hour but they did not get out of the water. They have cut considerable aspen in the vicinity, but still have a good supply of willow aspen left. Up on the hill behind the administration building near the old horse corral, we flushed a cow calf from a small thicket of aspens. She disappeared immediately. But her calf, the first we have seen this season was hidden in the thickest. It looked about 2 days old. It was frightened but did not move even when we touched it.
