Bears 219 Yellowstone May 27, 1932. This morning a trip was made to Stephenson construction camp about 3 miles out of Mammoth on the Norris road. Mrs. Stephenson says that she has warned the men not to feed bears. She seems to be aware of the inevitable consequences of such practices. Last night a black bear came into camp and up to one of the lundle doors. The dog in camp drove the bear away. The reports about 3 or 4 bear visits this spring. No damage has been done yet. The garbage is thrown in an open pit about 100 yards from camp, behind a big rock. I could find no tracks nor evidence of a bear visit to the garbage pit.
