Yellowstone
May 20, 1932
5 deer were seen on the Parade Ground
as we came into Mammoth. The deer are
still in shaggy coat although their coats
are beginning to look a bit ragged & they
seem to have many ticks. These deer
have a black tipped tail which is entirely
white toward the dorsal base.
4 muskrats were seen along the Yellowstone
River (one of them in Pelican Creek). All
were swimming on the surface.
Many marmots in dark red pelage were
seen everywhere.
A census of water birds, taken enroute to
Jewel Lake, but not on the return, developed
the following:
