Yellowstone May 29, 1932 The trip today was from Mammoth to Turbid Lake via Canyon and Falls. 4 moose were seen in Beaver Meadows, 2 bulls and 2 cows. They were there when we returned at 6:00 PM. They were feeding when seen both times. One cow moose was seen in the Gibson meadow at Norris. It ate quite awhile, without appearing to be afraid of us, then ran across the road to disappeared in the forest. At evening when we returned the cow was back again. She was so tame that after we had photographed her she would not move even when we threw rocks at her. Finally when we routed her she was forced to swim the river twice. She seemed reluctant to get into deep water. At last she got away, after appearing to contemplate swimming just below under the bridge, but changed her course & ran across the road. 4 elk ran through the edge of the forest about 100 yards from the moose as we were photographing the moose. 14 elk were seen feeding along the Yellowstone River about 2 miles before the lake, about 5:00 P.M. One other cow elk was seen later. These were all the elk we saw all day.
