Pyramid Lake, Nev. May 9, 1932.
The island is quite green with filaree,
some kind of salt brush, some grasses,
darkspur, biddlenecks, & various
unidentified herbs.
Pelican remains (adult & young)
were found scattered almost everywhere
on the island — many were adults
of this year.
19 Canada geese were seen on the
island. They flew into the lake
honking loudly.
1 Western Grebe was found dead,
1 skull of [illegible] on north end,
11 hawks were seen soaring around
the beaver pond.
A Redtail? was heard calling.
Simultaneously singing all over the
island.
Many blackbirds (not redwings)
were seen.
Several small, dark ducks with
crests were surface-feeding in the
little bays. They were not seen to
dive & I could not identify them.
2 Rattlesnakes were seen.
Many lizards (unidentified).
Millions of flies & gnats.
Several Calf Jellies were seen, but
not many
Perhaps 10 cooterante.
