Foxes holding their own. Quite a number of Silvers were taken years ago. Two parties years ago got about 7 in all. In 1929-30, Mr. Gandrelei got 5 foxes near camps.
Owls, lots of them well scattered. Good white pelts, as good as from any section.
Badgers about holding their own. Mr. G., climber, they would eat any kind of meat or bird eggs. Fisher & Mr. G. got 6 all together near Devil's Post Pile region from about 1915-18. One was the biggest he had ever seen. They would get up about 8500' in winter. They live on Mt. Beaver. Mt. Beaver still present. But wild kangip is poisonous to them where it is present.
Porcupines used to be plentiful. (cat) Lynx, caught 5 in Sevington a year ago.
Cougar, about 7 yrs. ago 3 of them were in the State Cattle region. None heard of since, not even in the Mono Basin.
Deer, Coyotes & Lynx all fall out.
