Hornpsom Yosemite March 21, 1932 Interview with Mr. Gardishei. Has been there at least 9 yrs. Trapped about 2 yrs. before that. Martins declining. Second season got 42 Martin pelts/ after that dropped about 10 each year. Last season got 11. Some mounds in this last season. Martins move along into. in search of food - may go 40-45 miles in 24 hrs. Wolverine. Caught 1 in 1925? Patterson, engineer for Berkeley, caught 1 in 1910. Mr. Gardishei saw one cross road between Saddle Bag Lake & Highway in 1929, summer. Coyotes may stay in a canyon all winter if there is sun. Not so many coyotes along crest as there were a few yrs. ago. Will eat juniper berries in winter. Earlier in season, will eat pinon nuts, and manzanita berries. A tame goat lived on hillside above Olvity Lake all winter and no predators got it. Later it disappeared - thinkes coyotes got it. Ranger shot coyotes this last summer. Fox (Cross, Red, & 1 Black Silver) were seen. One season, got 13 (2 wep spoiled) that was in about 1920-21.
