Grand Teton Nall Park July 7, 1931 Trip up Glacier Canyon. The trail west of Jenny Lake goes through wonderful forest with dense underbrush. Moose tracks were numerous. 12 Chickarees were seen & heard during the days trips. No trail leads up into Glacier Canyon but a usable trail may be found here and there. Moose tracks & droppings were very numerous. The creek runs almost level for about 5 miles in the canyon. The floor of the canyon, about 1/2 mile wide is a solid thickset of willow, grass, and swamp. The talus slopes are covered in patches with dense chaparral growth. Thimbleleaf abounds everywhere also slinky leaf canothens (velutina), and other members of the prunus family which I could not recognize. Hilies & wild raspberries & wild rose were numerous. This canyon is an ideal fall range for moose. Marmots seen at 7000 ft. were still dark red & buffy. Buff Wright and Dixon both reported black ones at the 10000 ft. elevation. Coyotes were there by the thousands.
