Rogey Mt. Natl. Parks June 29, 1931 Duro Thompson, Lamon Lake park. Many snow patches still hung on the mountains and Crystal Lake was half frozen still. Wild flowers, blue & gold were in profusion on top of the divide. Grass plentiful. Rabbits were feeding in snow-baules and singing their flight song. Bluebirds, white-crowned sparrows, hermit thrushes, and Ruby-crowned Kinglets sang everywhere. We saw about 15 reddish brown marmots. Deer tracks led to the top of the divide. One Chickaree was at the cabin 11,000 ft. elevation. One Audibon Warbler. Concerning the fregong & elk, it must be noted that no elk sign was in the valley. Probably elk, if any were there, were upon the ridges where they stay in summer time.
