is taking the place of the old. Sprague trapped 6 beaver out of his water supply 3 years ago, & has not been troubled since. The beavers near his house are an attraction, it seems to me, and can afford to have the aspen.
Madsen found no fish food in any of the streams or lakes, except Sprague's best fish pond. He suggests putting fresh water shrimp in all these streams for fish food. He is willing to save a few streams & lakes for the native fish, with a reduced limit, provided the main streams & lakes are devoted to quantity production of the best trout. This is J.M.H.'s suggestion.
June 24, 1931. Madsen, JMH,
and I visited the fish hatchery.
They have good hatching facilities but no ponds, except 17 small ones, to rear them to 6"-9" size before planting. Consequently there is no great loss from planting such fish which get eaten up before
by larger fish.
