Mel, 1931. Trip from head of Tunnel to Bridge Mountain, with Dixon & Scheefr. A cool slightly cloudy day. Elevation about 6500 ft.
Porcupine & Ring-tailed Cat tracks were seen in the sandy wash just above the tunnel.
A bunch of young Green-tailed Towhees, quite able for flight, was flushed up near the top of the ridge.
Over in the valley behind Bridge Mt. was found an unusual abundance of browse, water holes, grass & rushes with some aspen & yellow-pine.
The valley is about 1 mile across & 2 miles long. It is almost surrounded by high cliffs, & makes a wonderful protected natural deer & sheep range both summer & winter.
We saw deer tracks all the way and especially in this valley.
Scheefr & I saw 3 deer. They were very wild.
Jack Rabbit tracks were seen all through the area & Jack Rabbit was seen foraging. He stood still, and it came within 20 ft. of me.
Gray Fox tracks were also seen in the valley. Dixon saw Mt Sheep tracks on the ridge by Bridge 1931.
