122. Mexalverde Nat'l Parks, From Rock Springs to North Rim & south to Headquarters: May 5, 1931. Birds seen continued: 22. Gambel Quail 2 23. Great catchers numerous 24. Golden Eagles 4 25. Violet Green Swallow 10 Deer tracks were seen all across the northern rim of the parks. Two deer were seen there but at such a distance we could not tell whether they were buck or doe. This entire northern region is a wonderful deer country, valley, a protected swales covered with chaparral. Coyote tracks were seen in 3 places along the north rim, to numerous coyote droppings. Porcupine workings in the pinyons stretched clear across to the west boundary along the north rim. Very few pinyons are in that section, but most of them are scarred.
