Mexalverde Nat'l Parks,
From Rock Springs to North Rim &
south to Headquarters: May 5, 1931.
Birds seen continued:
22. Gambel Quail 2
23. Great catchers numerous
24. Golden Eagles 4
25. Violet Green Swallow 10
Deer tracks were seen all across
the northern rim of the parks.
Two deer were seen there but at
such a distance we could not
tell whether they were buck or doe.
This entire northern region is a
wonderful deer country, valley,
a protected swales covered with
chaparral.
Coyote tracks were seen in 3
places along the north rim,
to numerous coyote droppings.
Porcupine workings in the pinyons
stretched clear across to the west
boundary along the north rim.
Very few pinyons are in that
section, but most of them are
scarred. Refer to G.M.H. notes
page for details of porcupine
depredations.
