Thompson Mesa Verde Mancoz-Soda Canyon Trip May 2, 1931 What appeared to be Ring- Tailed Cat / droopings were found in the ruin at the top of Mancoz Canyon. Desi forage was plentiful but not abundant in Cliff Robe & Mt. Mohogany. Some desert grass was growing down in Soda Canyon. Otherwise the forest was just as it is here at head- quarters, except for immense bage brush patches down in the canyon bottoms. Birds identified: 1. Spotted Towhees 2. Chipping Sparrows 3. Gray Thrash-catchers 4. Blue-jay 5. Slender-billed Nuthatch, 6. Chickadee 7. Hoodpecker 8. Kingfisher (on Mancoz R.) 9. A Mallard drake was seen reported on the reservoir today. 10. An unidentified bird, abundant in Soda Canyon.
