Tompson Mesa Verde Natl. Park May 2, 1931 Drove from "Square Tower" to boundary of park, & south into Southern Ute Indian Reservation about 3 miles to end of road, then took trail down Soda Canyon to Mancos River; west along Mancos River about 2 miles, then up north slope of Mancos Canyon to Cliff Dwelling & back across mesa to the car. Deer tracks were seen all over the mesa top between Soda & Mancos canyons. Rain had fallen 3 days previously so the tracks were made since the rain indicating that the deer are on the Ute Reservation still. One deer track was seen amongst sheep tracks down along the Mancos River. Gray Fox droppings were seen down in Soda Canyon. One cat track, perhaps Bobcat, was seen in Mancos Canyon.
