Tropson 108 Carlsbad Cavern Trip. Guadalupe, Big Canyon. Trip with Sigon Wright. April 24, 1931. Coyotes are in the outs. Sigon has seen them band together (2-3 or 4) to pull down full grown bucks in winter. He says they will simply run the deer till it is wifled, & then kill it. A few Mt. Lions remains. There are also Ring-tailed cats, Bob-cats, Gray Hogs, Black Bears, Chimples, Mearles, Rocke Squirrels. The Grizzly Bear used to be in the region but is now extinct. Birds seen in the canyon: 1. Turkey Buzzard 2. Golden Eagle 3. Ferrawson Hawk 4. Burrowing Owl (outside canyon) 5. Kingbird, 6. Saddle Quail 7. Mourning Dove 8. Canyon Towhee 9. Rocke Hen 10. Cavyon H'ren 11. Linjet 12. Cactus H'ren 13 Spotted Owl (plentiful, but saw none)
