Thompson 99. Death Valley Trip Darwin Falls Canyon April 11, 1931 11:00 AM The canyon is perhaps a mile long from upper falls to main road, narrow & deep, about 400' deep, and very narrow at bottom. A clear stream of spring water runs down through the canyon with a profusion of water plants, muskrads, quinnels, willows, ferns & even saget & lupse than frws. It is a great place for birds. Birds seen: 1. Western Robin (nesting) 2? 2. Redwing Blackbird, immature pair 3. Yellow throats 2 females 4. Song Sparrows about 6 (Says Sparrow 2)? 5. Ruford Hummingbird 2 6. Costa Hummingbird 2 7. Sutevent Warbler 8. White Crowned Sparrow 10 9. Fox Sparrow 2 10. Ruby-crowned Kinglet 11 Savannah Sparrow about 4 12 Say Phoebe 13 white-throated swift sparrow
