Thompson (Note: error in p.numbers) 97 Interview with James Moffitt Calif. Fish & Game March 25, 1931 Concerning Mt. Sheep Robert Little, F.&G. warden at Banning Calif. is one to ask about sheep in the San Jacintos & vicinity. He says there are 1500 Mt. Sheep/ on San Jacintos & south to borders, Many others range across clear to the Colorado River. Ober, F.&G. warden at Big Pine for data on Mt. Whitney Region: Moffitt says: "Mount Form, directly west of Round Valley particularly the eastern slope, holds upwards of 60 head of sheep at all times. Most of the others are found around Mt. Baxter saw mill and Oak Creek farther west of Independence." Sheep are found also in: White Mts., Home Stake Canyon, Mt? Pine Mt., Beverage Mt., Marsha Mt., Dead Canyon, Head of Willow Creek, & on down as far as Cerro Gordo.
